Open Letter to George Yancy Re: “To White America”

A professor of philosophy at Emory University by the name of George Yancy, wrote an opinion piece  published in the New York Times, titled “Dear White America”. The column is chock full of condescending racial accusations, whereas he scolds the entire white race for slights, real and imagined.

I sent this to him in an email:

First of all you’re not a slave. Neither were your parents. You are a professor in an American university. The average salary for a faculty member at Emory is between $53,400-$95,100, which is more than I ever made in the Army and more than I receive as a retired veteran. You’re pretty damned well off for someone who implies that his life is affected by oppressive ‘privileged’ whites.

You fling all the hackneyed phrases: “white supremacy”,  “perpetuate a racist society”, and particularly, “the racist poison that is inside of you”.  The only racism I can see is evident in the long-winded letter you wrote in the New York Times, which blames white people for everything from the crimes in black communities to their feelings of inadequacy.  Your letter contained the offer of a gift; “accept the racism within yourself, accept all of the truth about what it means for you to be white in a society that was created for you.”  Seriously?? Here’s a gift for you, it’s called reality.

This is a conversation about you, your victimology, and the stagnant attitudes in black neighborhoods that reflect no desire or motivation to change their situation. There are lots of examples of poor, downtrodden whites, who fit the same mold, but since you want to play the race card, this is about you.

Skin color is used as an excuse for everything from laziness to abhorrent criminal behavior.  Throwing the race card and practicing victimology is so much easier than personal accountability.  Black victimologists and white liberals share a common denominator; both ignore the crime rate in black neighborhoods, and black on white hate crimes with equal indifference.

When it comes to racism, liberal Democrats and their supporters, black and white, are some of the worst racist pigs on the planet.  According to these lowlifes, racism bears only one skin color; white. How racist.  No one does racism like the left, and I’ve seen plenty of racism on the part of minorities.

The “blame ‘whitey’” tactic won’t work anymore. It’s a hackneyed gimmick used by punks who think vandalism, assault, burning the American flag, and throwing Molotov cocktails through the windows of a Walmart is gonna elevate their street cred.

Here’s the gift of common sense:

Instead of yelling racist profanities at white people because of their skin color, act as if you have some intelligence.

Instead of  making lame assed excuses for your behavior and character flaws, raise your children to respect themselves and others.  Discipline, guidance, and respect start at home with the parents. Look at the example you set for your children.

If you are part of the perpetual welfare class and entitlement culture that doesn’t work because they don’t have to, and you manipulate the system and pass the technique along to your children like a  family heirloom, they’ll turn out just like you.

While we’re on the subject of children, stop producing them at a rate you can’t afford. You’re just as allergic to birth control as you are staying in school and getting a job.

Inflammatory rhetoric and threats from the Black Panthers and ‘Black Live Matter’ thugs don’t impress us, it just reinforces the image you’ve created.

I keep hearing the phrases  “white privilege” and “check your privilege” every time one of these racist blowhards gives a speech for the cameras.  I want to know where the hell I can get mine.

My environment was far from prosperous. I come from a working class family in racially diverse, economically depressed neighborhood. My mother raised 7 kids, mostly by herself. We all worked. My two older step sisters worked two part time jobs, and my mother worked to make ends meet. It was a hell of a struggle. I joined the Army at the age of 18 and served a total of 30 years (20 Active, 10 Reserve).

My skin color didn’t exempt me from two combat tours in Iraq. My Associates Degree was earned at a community college because that’s all my GI Bill and pocket could afford. My pension is still not enough to cover all the bills, but I still have Social Security to look forward to. Whoopie.

No one gave me a free meal ticket because I’m a hyphenated ‘Caucasian’. Some people may have a terminal case of white guilt, but I have no reason to feel guilty. I’m Irish, Scots, German, and Cherokee. I will never apologize for my ancestry, heritage, or skin color. Get over it. I’m sick and tired of the race-baiters in this country. I associate with whom I choose, not what pleases the PC race police. It’s bad enough race hustlers like Al Sharpton pop up every time there’s a slight—real or perceived—in race relations. He’s a buffoon, but the media keeps giving him a soapbox.

I don’t define race as a way of inclusion into the American melting pot. Native-born, legal residents, and newly legalized immigrants who assimilate into our culture, is my measuring stick.

Newsflash: There isn’t one ethnic group on this earth who hasn’t been kicked around or done its own kicking. White people don’t have a corner on that market. If you don’t realize that, you need a course in world history. EVERYBODY is prejudiced in some way shape or form. Every ethnic group does what comes naturally to humans and will gravitate to their own kind over others. Blacks included. That’s nothing to be ashamed of. It is what it is.

What bothers me is when it gets incorporated into a doctrine of violence and stupidity, regardless of who it is.

Saying  “nigger”, gives the perpetually outraged a case of grand mal seizures, unless it’s spewed in a rap song. The same “racially sensitive” crowd doesn’t flinch when stereotypical names like “whitey”, “cracker”, “redneck”, and “trailer trash” get used in conversation. And yeah, I’ve been the recipient of ethnic slurs from minorities in my hometown and during my Army service.

It’s hard to know where the line is when it keeps getting moved.

As for me, I recognize character, values, principles, honor, integrity, achievement, and patriotism regardless of “race”.  How about giving a lecture on that, Yancy?
You’re just another shining example of the fact that racism isn’t contained to just one ethnicity.

In 1911, former slave Booker T. Washington had some astute observations:

“There is (a) class of colored people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs — partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.

“There is a certain class of race-problem solvers who don’t want the patient to get well, because as long as the disease holds out they have not only an easy means of making a living, but also an easy medium through which to make themselves prominent before the public.”

Fast forward to 2015, and the same class of “colored people” and “race-problem solvers” have made a cottage industry out of race.

If you didn’t write it using the Ebonics style he probably couldn’t unnerstan it.
