From Fox News.
A massive military exercise planned in states across the American West has touched off a political firestorm, with several top Texas officials now questioning the military’s plans – if only to calm the Internet and constituent furor surrounding it.
The seven-state war simulation exercise, known as “Jade Helm 15,” is planned for this summer. It involves training exercises on private and public land – while such exercises are hardly unique, even the military acknowledges the “size and scope” of this one sets it apart.
……While the White House and Pentagon are downplaying concerns, this hasn’t stopped a barrage of blogs and tweets warning about whether the federal government is preparing for “martial law.”
……On Monday, the governor defended his actions. “There was, frankly, an overreaction to the simple fact that someone has to be in charge with gathering and disseminating information,” said Abbott, speaking to reporters. “We stepped in to play that role, which is a role to be applauded.”
On Tuesday, Texas Republican Rep. Louie Gohmert also released a lengthy statement saying his office has been “inundated” with calls on the matter.
“This military practice has some concerned that the U.S. Army is preparing for modern-day martial law,” he said. “Certainly, I can understand these concerns.”
At the same time, Gohmert said he understands why military officials want to test whether Special Forces groups can move around a civilian population and handle various threat scenarios.
Western-state officials are now caught between a desire to calm their residents – and yet not appear to stoke any conspiracy theories.
The scenario, as outlined in the mission statement, is to conduct realistic military training in unconventional warfare throughout the west/southwest U.S.
Here’s the problem: The military has not been clear on what kind of ‘insurgency’ they’re training for. They have not indicated if it’s a Middle East war, an internal terrorism crisis generated by all the muzzie extremists that operate within our borders, or whether it’s a test run for civil war.
The citizens are pretty angry about this for good reasons. For the last seven years, Obama has launched an egregious attack on individual and civil liberties.
When Janet “Big Sis” Napolitano was head of the DHS, she and Obama compiled an Enemies List and a Domestic Threat Assessment composed of Iraq/Afghanistan War veterans, outspoken Obama critics, anti-illegal alien activists, gun owners, white middle-class Americans, and Americans who covet individual liberties. By their definition, that makes me a threat.
Military instructors at some universities have also indulged in scenarios entertaining the idea of a civil war with the Tea Party, designed to create the fatuous impression that patriotic support of the U.S. Constitution is “extreme”.
Obama directed the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups, rubber stamped the NSA’s violation of the 4th Amendment, and ordered the DOJ to hack into the computers and private phone records and personal emails of reporters and media outlets.
He’s also in the habit of making unconstitutional laws at his own discretion, bypassing Congress, and abusing ‘executive powers’.
Or better yet, have them surround the White House and un-ass the dictator.
The GOP sure doesn’t have the balls.
