Michigan Makes Birthplace of Radical 60’s Movement a Landmark

Instead of giving it the designation of a landmark, they should include a big plaque that describes the murders, violence, and terrorism they committed.

From Fox News.

A Michigan union camp where 1960s radical students signed their manifesto will be recognized as an official historical site, in a development critics say lends unwarranted legitimacy to a movement that was linked to violence and anti-Americanism.

The “Port Huron Statement,” a 25,700-word document written by one-time University of Michigan student and future California lawmaker Tom Hayden, was signed at a United Auto Workers camp near Port Huron in 1962. But even though the mission statement for the left-wing group Students for a Democratic Society blasted the U.S. and helped spawn a sometimes violent student movement, state officials say it is part of history.

……The Port Huron Statement called for total disarmament by the U.S., an end to racism and major reform of the Democratic Party. Hayden, who went on to marry actress Jane Fonda, was the president of Students for a Democratic Society.

……The decision by the Michigan Historical Commission, a subdivision of the state’s Department of Natural Resources, was first reported by EAG news.

“It is bewildering that the state of Michigan would waste taxpayer dollars celebrating a failed, totalitarian-oriented ideology,” Ashley Pratte, spokeswoman for Young America’s Foundation, a conservative group of students and young professionals that drafted its own statement in 1960 in Sharon, Conn., told FoxNews.com. “The Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) was a radical group that was eager to salute their Eastern bloc comrades as no threat to freedom. [But] what we know now reinforces how radical and ill-informed SDS was. Not to mention that their domestic policy gave us a blueprint that led to modern day Detroit.”

Some of the history behind the groups and the malfeasants who belonged:

Tom Hayden and Jane Fonda:

Fonda went on “goodwill trip” to Hanoi in 1972, where she collaborated with the enemy and gave them aid and comfort. She willingly engaged in pro-Viet Cong activities and propaganda broadcasts, and berated American troops and POWs.

She sat behind an NVA  gun emplacement for a photo op and when she was told the gun had been used to shoot down American planes, she laughed and clapped. She  accused U.S. military and political leaders of being “war criminals”, she claimed that P.O.W.’s reports of being tortured in captivity were “laughable” and said they were “exaggerating, probably for their own self-interest.” She and Tom Hayden (her then husband) also traveled to Czechoslovakia, where, during a meeting with Viet Cong representatives, he announced: “I am Viet Cong. We are all Viet Cong.”

Bill Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist and a former prominent member of the Weather Underground, a radical leftwing group that went on a bombing spree in the 1960’s which included the Pentagon, The Capitol Building, Police stations, and the home of a New York State Supreme Court justice. The motley crew of unwashed hippies also planned on killing 25 million people deemed as “diehard capitalists”, once they established their communist utopia.

Some excerpts from his Weather Underground manifesto, “Prairie Fire”:

We are a guerrilla organization. We are communist women and men, underground in the United States for more than four years. We are deeply affected by the historic events of our time in the struggle against U.S. imperialism.
Our intention is to disrupt the empire, to incapacitate it, to put pressure on the cracks, to make it hard to carry out its bloody functioning against the people of the world, to join the world struggle, to attack from the inside.

“Kill all the rich people. Break up their cars and apartments. Bring the revolution home, kill your parents—that’s where it’s really at.”

———————————————————————

The little revolutionary dirtbag has no regrets:

This—violence, death, and white-hot rhetoric—is his past and Ayers insists he has no regrets. “I acted appropriately in the context of those times,” he says. But it’s hard to reconcile this quick-witted man with that revolutionary. Today Bill Ayers seems too happy to have ever been so angry.

In 1980, Ayers and (Bernadine) Dohrn turned themselves in. …..By then they had had two children together, and the bombing conspiracy charge against the couple had been dismissed due to government misconduct. (A technicality)

Dohrn plea-bargained to charges of inciting to mob action and resisting police officers. She was sentenced to three years’ probation and a $1,500 fine. Ayers was not charged. Even then he showed a way with words: “Guilty as hell, free as a bird—America is a great country,” he said.

”I don’t regret setting bombs,” Bill Ayers said. ”I feel we didn’t do enough.”

In 1981, Weather Underground members David J. Gilbert and Kathy Boudin hooked up with a black nationalist group called “The Family”, to carry out a Brinks armored car robbery. Two police officers and a security guard were murdered.

Of the 13 WU leaders indicted for the terrorism spree, only Boudin, Gilbert, and Matthew Landy Steen, who was a culprit in the U.S. Capitol bombing, spent time in prison. No other WU member was ever convicted of the crimes they committed.

Boudin was paroled in 2003, and (surprise) along with fellow terrorist Bill Ayers, has joined the ranks of leftwing academic intelligentsia.

And this should definitely be included in the historical record at the “landmark”:  B. Hussein Obama launched his career from the living room of Ayers and his wife/sidekick Bernadine Dohrn.  He also had ties to the Midwest Academy and Ayers’ Annenberg Fund.

Michigan is acquiring a reputation for harboring extremists.  For instance, Dearborn, Michigan has become quite a muslim extremist operating base , with Islamic jihad centers and mosques that are breeding grounds for terrorism.  there’s a substantial radical muzzie enclave in Dearborn, Michigan. The main mosque in Dearborn, the Islamic Center of America,  is run by Imam Sayed Hassan Al-Qazwini, who has considerable ties to Hezbollah, invited Nation of Islam’s lunatic Louis Farrakhan to speak, and openly advocates terrorism.

As if Detroit wasn’t enough.
