Your Laugh for the Day: The Fake Sign Language Interpreter at Mandela’s Funeral

It’s hilarious. The best thing about it: That fake interpreter is just as real as Obama and Mandela’s “legacy”.

Thamsanqa Jantjie (say that three times fast) is the name of the fake sign language interpreter who made faux gesticulations for hours on end, as the speakers droned on and on.

They would have been better off enlisting the help of the Headmaster of the New York School for the Hard of Hearing.

Jantjie was up there doing everything from Bob Fosse’s ‘jazz hands’ to the Cabbage Patch.

Here’s one translation of what he might have been communicating:

It gave some good comedy relief to an otherwise disgusting homage to a dead terrorist.

    in the local dyalick (notyobootie) the word for sign language and shadow puppeteer are very very close to sounding alike…
    he is making a bunny wabbit wit’ his right hand in the last pic…
    the first one is the sign for a fat assmoochelle…
