Welcome to the Party of Freedom, Senator Guillory, it’s good to have a person of your caliber and integrity in the Republican Party.
From The Daily Caller.
What pushed Louisiana state Sen. Elbert Guillory to become a Republican was some idle talk about racism from a state Democratic Party official.
After Louisiana Democratic Party Chairwoman Karen Carter Peterson’s assertion that opponents to Obamacare are motivated by “the race of this African-American president,” Guillory had to answer to a constituency every politician worries about — his own mother.
“‘Elbert, are you a part of this? Do you buy into this? Do you believe this?’” Guillory, in an interview with The Daily Caller, recalled his 103-year-old, life-long Democratic mother asking shortly after Peterson’s comments erupted in the press.
“I knew from that conversation on — I was ready to make the decision [to switch parties], I’d been considering it for awhile, but that tipped me over the edge right there,” he explained.
Guillory announced that he was leaving the Democratic Party on May 31 at a gathering of the black conservative @Large Conference, becoming the first black Republican state senator in Louisiana since Reconstruction, according to The Advertiser.
In a popular video released this week explaining his decision to leave, Guillory called the Democratic Party the “Party of disappointment.”
“Perhaps to me the biggest disappointment has been the way the Democratic Party has treated the black community, as though we are simply in the hip pocket of the Democrats,” he explained. “So they have not addressed…issues dealing with minority employment particularly, the condition of the black family, education, all the things that really affect the black communities across this country. Those things are just ignored.”
Here is Senator Guillory’s video, ‘Why I Am a Republican’:
Better watch out, Senator. The Democrats don’t like apostates. Black Tea Party Republicans get assaulted with physical violence and hatespeech from so-called tolerant liberals–white and black alike.
The entitlement culture will always expect a hand out, and the Dems will always be there to give it to them. Why work when you can suck off the public teat? That’s the message to blacks and Hispanics. The soft bigotry of low expectations. Your color entitles you to special treatment. You’re downtrodden because the evil white folks made you ‘needy’. Don’t worry about getting a job, the working class will do that and pay for your welfare, to boot.
Minorities are used to push the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac scam, illegal aliens, voter fraud, unconstitutional ObamaCare, class war, and abject hatred of successful business. The same people who buy into that shit and keep voting Dems into office are the same ones who thrive on the welfare state. For them, poverty is a political angle and a lifestyle, not something to get out of.
The Dems have quite a racist history to contend with, and they’ve done everything to deny, coverup, and revise the chronicles of their bigotry. The Ku Klux Klan served as the terrorist wing of the democratic party for decades. Their blatant racist comments and behavior always gets a pass from the main stream media.
Don’t think for one minute that the DemLeft minds keeping the poor and minorities in their place. It gives them a demographic to exploit while mouthing platitudes about evil rich (white) corporate owners versus the workers. The myth of the Left being for the working class and minorities has been wrung for all it’s worth. It’s part and parcel of a campaign pitch for a target audience; a monolithic, easily manipulated voting bloc that is all too willing to participate.
Senator Guillory isn’t buying their shit sandwich.
